Johnson ranked fifth in the Associated Press's 2008 Female Athlete of the Year voting.In March of 2009, Johnson was announced as one of 12 semifinalists for the AAU Sullivan award. The annual award honors the athlete who best represents "the qualities of leadership, character, sportsmanship, and the ideals of amateurism" and will be announced April 15.
